Actor John Abraham, who flagged- off the Yamaha Mission to encourage safe and congenial bike riding across the nation with a theme of 'Discovering a whole new India' here on Sunday, underscored that pillion riders should wear helmets.

"It is very important for pillion riders to wear helmets because whenever there is any accident it is the pillion riders who suffer. The ladies, who are at the backseat, should also wear it. It is very very important. .. Wear a helmet all the time." Abraham said.

"Yamaha has done a great job by having this 'Mission 10,000'. Like you heard there are 20 riders, ten will head on the east coast while the rest ten will go towards west coast and all will meet in Chennai. It is a very interesting concept it is a new bike FZ, and to promote blue core concept, which is a very eco-friendly concept and this was the best way to do it. I have very happy to be here in Delhi along with ZGnition and Yamaha," he added.

The Bollywood actor further said that understanding of the bike was important for a long haul journey.

"You have to enjoy what you do. It is not an easy job to ride a bike as you will have to ride 10,000 km and it's a tough thing so one must understand the bike. Like a jockey understands his horse, similarly a rider must understand about a bike. All the riders have understanding about dismantling the bike....," he said.

Twenty shortlisted participants from metro cities across the country have been chosen for the Yamaha Mission after a round of auditions that included personal interviews and online voting.
