Johnny Depp has questioned unreasonable dependence of humans on technology.

Depp, who will be seen in the role of a technology-obsessed scientist in his next movie 'Transcendence,' said that people have been fighting wars over 'my god is better than your god' for thousands of years and in the 21st century, he thinks that it's appropriate to look at the way human beings worship technology and what that could mean for the future of humans, MVP Entertainment India reported.

The 50-year-old actor said "Whether you're on the side of technology or ecology, a pacifist or an extremist, most people have very definite opinions, and the question of how far we should allow our dependence on computers to go is a question that needs to be asked."

Johnny Depp's latest film has him portraying the role of Dr. Will Caster, an artificial intelligence researcher who strives to create a machine that possesses sentience and collective intelligence. But extremists against technological advancement target him, unknowingly driving him toward his goal.

Transcendence is directed by Wally Pfister and casts Johnny Depp in the lead with Morgan Freeman and Rebecca Hall. Christopher Nolan is the executive producer of the movie.
