Australian paceman Mitchell Johnson has reportedly agreed to keep his moustache for the duration of the Ashes series if 50,000 dollars are raised by December 3 to support a charity.

Australian coach Darren Lehmann, along with Matthew Wade, David Warner, Mitchell Starc and Johnson had began a moustache-growing competition, organised by an official CA charity Movember, from November 1 to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

According to News.com.au, Johnson has agreed to the move after an Australian newspaper began a petition in an open letter to Johnson and Warner, imploring them to keep their moustaches for the Adelaide Ashes Test.

According to the letter, the moustaches were responsible for Australia striking fear into English hearts during the opening Test, adding that moustaches were a big part of Australia's golden age when stadiums overflowed with fans clamouring to see real men like Jeff Thomson, Dennis Lillee batter England wearing outrageous moustaches.

The letter further said that 'menacing moustaches' and the baggy green go together like 'honey and bees'.
