New Zealand's chances of series-levelling win in the second Test could be dampened if Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson succeeds in replicating his menacing form in Perth.

The 34-year-old left-hander is only second behind Glenn McGrath (52) to have taken most number of wickets at the pacey WACA ground with 42 scalps in his six Test matches.

Dubbed as the fastest pitch on the planet, the WACA pitch could pack a punch at the tourists if the lethal combo of Johnson and Mitchell Starc delivers.

Reflecting on the pitch, WACA groundskeeper Matt Page admitted that there would be pace and bounce for the speedsters, insisting that it would be a result-oriented game, Sport24 reported.

Following a thumping 208-run win in the first Test at the Gabba, the Steve Smith-led team will look to seal the three-match series in the second match starting on Friday.
