Angelina Jolie has launched an academic center in London to combat and prevent the violence faced by women in war zones.

The 'Maleficent' actress opened a centre of women, peace and security with William Hague at London's School of Academics that will focus on Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI) and on enhancing accountability and ending impunity for rape and sexual violence in war, E! Online reported.

The 39-year-old American actress said that the next generation should get educated so that they can make decisive decisions with the concern to make a positive change in the world as place where crimes committed against women go unpunished has no stable future.

The special envoy for the U.N. high commissioner for refugees explained that her centre is especially for the women and girls like the 13-year-old girl whom she met on her Iraq refugee trip who was sitting on the floor of makeshift tent rather than going to school.

Jolie added that the girl was a sex slave of ISIS and was repeatedly raped, therefore she may never be able to complete her education, or get married or have a family, because in her society victims of rape are shunned, and considered shameful.
