Journalists across the nation on Wednesday condemned the terror strike on a Paris-based satire magazine Charlie Hebdo, terming it an attack on the freedom of expression.
"The entire world condemns the attack. This is an attack on journalism and freedom of expression. The attack was most inhuman and most un-Islamic," journalist and political analyst Ved Prakash Vaidik told ANI.
Meanwhile, veteran journalist NK Singh expressed grief that satire could produce such intolerance.
"Satire is an essential part of development in a democracy and it is highly condemnable that a satirical cartoon produced such intolerance," he said.
Earlier in the day, gunmen entered the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and opened fire. According to reports, 12 people, including two police officers were killed in the attack, with five others seriously wounded.
Charlie Hebdo has reportedly been facing threats after it published a series of cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad.
