Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Monday said that a journalist has to meet a lot of people in his profession, and that there should not be any controversy over it over Baba Ramdev's close aide Ved Pratap Vaidak's meeting with 26/11 terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed.
"A journalist has to meet a lot of people in his profession, but there should not be any controversy on it," said Anwar.
Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar said that saints and Maulanas have started doing politics in both the India and Pakistan.
"Vaidik has gone as an ambassador of Ramdev. Now saints and Maulanas are doing politics in both the countries. They are mixing politics and religion," said Anwar.
Earlier today, several Congress leaders, including Digvijaya Singh, Anand Sharma and Ambika Soni, raised the issue and did not let the Question Hour begin, demanding explanation from the Modi government over Vaidik-Saeed meet in Lahore recently.
The Rajya Sabha was in a state of pandemonium with members cutting across party lines to register their strong protests over the meeting.
Vaidik reiterated by saying that if the Parliament takes up this issue, nothing will come out of it.
