Jr Women National Hockey C'ship:MP beat Chandigarh 2-1

Madhya Pradesh registered their second victory in the 8th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2018 (A Division) as they edged past Chandigarh 2-1 in their Pool A clash here on Friday.

Goals for Madhya Pradesh were scored by skipper Upasana Singh (39') and Sarita Devi Brahmachari Mayum (45') while skipper Amritpal Kaur (25') scored the only goal for Chandigarh.

In the other Pool A match, Delhi beat The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd. 2-0 where the goals for the victors were scored by Harsha (48') and Tanya Kashap (68').

In Pool B, Haryana continued their fine form as they defeated Karnataka 11-0. Goals for Haryana were scored by Amrinder Kaur (2', 18', 46', 61'), Amandeep Kaur (16', 33', 48'), Neelam (7', 67') and Anu (60', 70').

In the other Pool B encounter, Chhattisgarh defeated Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 2-1 as Anjali Mahto (20') and Sarika Dhiwar (45') scored for the victors while P Sathya Priya (30') scored for Tamil Nadu.

In Pool C, Jharkhand defeated Bhopal 16-0 as Pinki Ekka (28', 45', 47', 52', 54'), Deepika Soreng (13', 25', 35'), Beauty Dungdung (12', 22'), Albela Rani Toppo (21', 58'), skipper Alka Dungdung (34', 44'), Reema Baxla (8') and Priya Dungdung (53') scored for Jharkhand.

In the other Pool C match, it was Him who came out on top as they defeated Coorg 5-0 as skipper Sharmila Devi (10', 25'), Ankita Dahiya (40'), Bharti Saroha (47') and Arti Kashyap (65') scored the goals for Him.

Pool D saw Mizoram defeat Uttarakhand 6-1 as Lalrinfeli (34', 44', 68'), Vanlalhriatpuli (9', 47') and F Lalawmpuii (25') scored in their win. It was Manisha Chauhan (29') who scored the only goal for Uttarakhand.

In the second Pool D match of the day, Punjab beat Maharashtra 6-4 in an exciting encounter. Goals for Punjab were scored by Baljinder Kaur (5', 7', 29'), skipper Mitali (6', 35') and Kirandeep Kaur (42') while Pooja Shendge (4'), Shradha Tiwari (24'), Gauri Shinde (27') and Vaishnavi Phalke (41') scored for Maharashtra.
