Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati said that allegations of corruption in the judiciary mentioned by former Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice (retired) Markandey Katju on Monday should be investigated.
"Our party has always maintained a stand right from the very beginning that the judiciary should never be mixed with politics, and the allegations which Katju has put, I feel it's a matter of investigation, and if there is any truth in them, then there should be proper enquiry," said Mayawati.
Katju has claimed that a district Judge, who had several allegations of corruption against him, was not sacked and was elevated to the post of additional judge of the Madras High Court owing to the pressure put on the UPA Government and the judicial collegium by a Tamil Nadu-based party.
