President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday condoled the passing away of Justice Leila Seth, the first woman Judge of Delhi High Court and first woman Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
In a message to her husband, Prem Nath Seth, the President has said, "I am sad to learn about the passing away of Smt. Justice Leila Seth, who was the first woman Judge of Delhi High Court and first woman Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The President said Justice Seth was an eminent jurist and made immense contribution to the development of jurisprudence, adding that she will remain an inspiration for all members of legal fraternity, especially women.
"Kindly accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to other members of your family. I pray to the Almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss," he added.
Seth, first woman judge of the Delhi High Court passed away at her Noida residence on Saturday.
Seth had also become the first woman to top the London bar exam in 1958.

She practised law in Patna High Court for about ten years and handled a number of tax matters, civil and criminal cases, matrimonial suits and writ petitions.
She was appointed as the Delhi High Court judge in 1978 and was made the chief justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court in 1991.
