South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis is highly likely to wrap up his illustrious cricket career with Twenty20 commitments in India instead of being a part of his home domestic team Cape Cobras this season.
Kallis confirmed that he has no plans to represent his long-time home franchise in 2014-15, when he might in fact run into Cape Cobras as opponents for Indian Premier League (IPL) defenders Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during next month's T20 Champions League in India.
Kallis, who traditionally aligned to IPL teams, will play for KKR if the domestic team he represents also qualifies for the Champions League as the Cobras have done this year, Sport24 reported. They and the South African RAM Slam T20 champions of 2013-14, the Dolphins, will represent South Africa at the tournament in India.
Kallis did play for the Cobras in the Newlands final in February, when the Dolphins sneaked home despite his bowling performance of four for 26, raising some speculation that he might be available for them at times again in 2014-15 now that he is free of national duty.
Speaking in his role as a guest personality for the Land Rover/DHL Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour at the other Newlands on Wednesday, Kallis said that he does not think he would be doing any domestic cricket. He added that he would make a decision a couple of months down the line; see how he is feeling.
Kallis said that at this stage, though, he probably would not do it.

Kallis also said that the feeling that he has now retired from all forms of cricket for South Africa has sunk in and it is magnificent. He added that it is the best decision he has made, and is happy that he acted when he did.
The great all-rounder said that he has still got Champions League coming up in a few weeks, adding that he is thinking of leaving around September 10 or 11 for it. He said that there is IPL again, and Australian Big Bash for Sydney Thunder, as he has reportedly signed for them on a two-year deal.
So Kallis said that there's still plenty of non-international cricket to play in the next year or so.
