Tottenham Hotspur got their challenge for a top-four Premier League finish back on track with a hard-fought 4-3 win over Leicester, thanks to forward Harry Kane's first league hat-trick.

After Hugo Lloris was carried off, Kane slotted home in the sixth minute then added another in the 13th minute with a deflected shot as Tottenham went 2-0 up. However, Leicester drew level with a goal either side of the half time as Jamie Vardy steered in an effort before Wes Morgan headed in.

Kane converted a penalty to provide the lead again and turn the tables in Tottenham's favour. Leicester defender Jeff Schlupp scored an own goal as Tottenham, despite Nugent's late second strike, held on for victory, the BBC reported.

Leicester remain bottom of the table but would feel aggrieved at a controversial penalty decision going against them as referee Mike Dean adjudged Nugent had fouled Danny Rose when the pair collided with the game poised at 2-2.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said that it was a very tough game, adding that they suffered until the end of the game because they conceded a third goal. He insisted that they knew before the game that Leicester are a very good team, and he believes that they deserve more.

Pochettino also said that Kane's hat-trick was great, adding that he is happy for the England International and the team and is now looking forward and keep going.

Meanwhile, Leicester boss Nigel Pearson said that he is a bit tired of having people's sympathy, adding that they have made mistakes but there was an awful lot of positive aspects of his side's performance.
