The Karnataka High Court will hear former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa's bail plea on Wednesday. The High Court has agreed to hear the bail plea after Jayalalitha's lawyers filed a memo seeking speedy hearing.
Earlier in the day, a vacation bench adjudicated by Justice Rathnakala had adjourned the case to October 6th citing the need to appoint a special public prosecutor for the purpose.
Jayalalithaa, her aide Sasikala and two others were convicted in the 66.65 crore rupees corruption case by a special court in Bangalore on September 27.
While the AIADMK chief was asked to pay Rs 100 crore, the other three were fined Rs 10 crore each. Jayalalitha and others are seeking bail and suspension or stay against the special court verdict.
