Rejecting the claims made by Tariq Hameed Karra that he was offered the post of chief minister thrice by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before and after Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's death, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said the former People Democratic Party (PDP) MP's statement hold "no truth or base".

"He (Tariq Karra) has said all this to create confusion because if he would have said this by staying in PDP then it would have been a different thing. It is a motivated statement which holds no truth or base. BJP has no connection with this. Why has he recalled this after six to seven months? He should have said this the day he had resigned," Singh said.

Karra had tendered his resignation from the party and the Lok Sabha on September 15.

"I have resigned from the primary membership of the PDP and parliamentary membership. I have decided to disassociate myself from primary membership of PDP and from the membership of Parliament," he had said. Karra represented Srinagar-Budgam constituency in the Lok Sabha.

Karra was known for vehemently opposing the alliance of PDP with the BJP in the state, but resigned citing failure of the government to deal with the ongoing unrest in the state.
