Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Chief M Karunanidhi has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital here.
The DMK Chief, who was being treated at his Gopalapuram residence for fever due to Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), has been taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Earlier, an ambulance arrived at the residence of the ailing leader, to take him to the hospital amidst a large crowd of supporters.
DMK working president MK Stalin, party MP Kanimozhi, ousted leader MK Alagiri, former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran, and party leader TR Baalu were among those present at Karunanidhi's residence.
A number of leaders, including Union Minister P Radhakrishnan, visited the family of the ailing leader at the latter's residence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also enquired about the health of the DMK Chief.
