People from all communities and religions paid tribute to 19th century Sufi Saint Wahab Khar - known for his poetic verses - on his death anniversary in Pampore town in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Khar, a mystic poet known for his spiritual powers and unique method of transforming thoughts into poetry in a unique way, is known by people for his ideologies of brotherhood.
"People from all religions come here. He was a very renowned Sufi poet that is why people from all communities come here. He believed in unity, peace and brotherhood," said a devotee, Mohammad Shafi.
Khar, in his 100-year-long life, met many saints and was fond of attending musical gatherings. His death year is not ascertained but he is known to have died in 1912.
A special folk musical event was organised in the premises of his shrine and huge crowds gathered inside and outside the holy abode to seek his blessings.
"A lot of people come here and believe in this shrine. They come here to fulfil their wishes. They pray to the saint and all their wishes are fulfilled," said care taker of the shrine, Mohammad Maqbool.

The eight-day event is organised every year on his death anniversary and is attended by thousands of people, including Hindus, Sikhs and Christians.
Though illiterate, the saint had profound knowledge of Hindu practices and Lord Shiva.
Legends say that Wahab Khar once was able to shoot out a hot water spring from amid a forest on his own. The spring still flows through the valley and devotees take its water home with them believing it to be pious.
