In an endeavour to tackle the ongoing crisis in the Kashmir Valley, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today met political leaders and interacted with the civil society members on the second day of his visit to Srinagar.

With significant parts of the valley remaining under curfew-like restrictions, Singh met National Conference leader and former chief minister Omar Abdullah, BJP leaders and civil society members.

However, the Congress leaders chose not to meet Singh.

Singh, who landed in Kashmir yesterday, interacted with the delegations representing diverse sections of people. He appreciated the initiative of delegations for putting forth free and fair feedback and suggestions which will help in restoring normalcy in the region.

The Home Minister also assured the delegations that necessary tangible action would be taken to address the concerns and difficulties.

Singh is presently on a two-day visit to Srinagar to review overall situation in Kashmir in the aftermath of spontaneous protests and violence that broke after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in South Kashmir's Kokernag area earlier this month.

Besides curfew in other districts in the valley, the restrictions under Section 144 will remain in force in four districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, Budgam and Ganderbal.
