The second Kathmandu Pinkathon, a running competition for women to raise awareness about their health related issues, was held here on Saturday.
It witnessed the flow of about five thousand registrants. The marathon had four categories of 3, 5, 10 and 21 Kilometers to compete.
"As women are always busy in their kitchen chores and the house activities, this type of marathon will help them energize and make them care for their health as well," said Pratima Bista, a participant in the Kathmandu Pinkathon told ANI, after completing her three kilometer race.
The Pinkathon marathon, which started in India, came to Nepal last year which made the Nepali capital Kathmandu flooded with pink t-shirts spreading the message of change and better lifestyle for the women.
"The Pinkathon type of program (event) encourages the women to take part in extracurricular activities. Basically, women are always confined to their house hold chores, so such an event gives message to women to take part in extracurricular activities," another participant Punam Budhathoki said.
The founder of the event actor and model Millind Soman opines that the event strengthens the relation between the two countries.
"Any interaction which is based on positive activity is good for relationship and when it comes to events like this, obviously, this has to do a lot with the improvement of health not only the physical one but also the mental and emotional well being. We have brought this event here from India and it will lead to better understanding of many things between the two countries," Millind Soman founder of the Pinkathon told ANI.
