Kazakh visit has been 'short, memorable and rewarding': PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday described his visit to Kazakhstan as short, memorable and rewarding, adding that the two countries have shared perspectives on many issues.

"This has been a short, memorable and rewarding visit. We have shared perspectives on many issues including regional, peace, connectivity and integration," the Prime Minister said at the joint press meet here.

"I was very encouraged by the interaction at the Business Roundtable. We will enhance cooperation in space and technology. We agree that connectivity is important and we will address the issue," he added.

Stating that Kazakhstan is India's biggest economic partner in the region, Prime Minister Modi stressed that the two countries will work together to take economic ties to a new level.

"Kazakhstan is our biggest economic partner in the region. We will work together to take economic ties to a new level. We are pleased to have a much larger second contract for purchase of uranium with Kazakhstan, expanding civil nuclear cooperation," he said.

The Prime Minister further said that Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev had responded positively to his request to consider additional blocks for Indian investments.

After completing his visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Ufa, Russia later today to participate in the 7th BRICS summit.

The Prime Minister will also be participating in the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
