Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday slammed the Gujarat Government and accused them of threatening and grabbing the land of farmers.

Kejriwal is in Gujarat to verify the development claims often made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

"It seems that progress for the Congress and the BJP means torturing the farmers by snatching their lands. A land scam is taking place, basically the Sikh groups own one lakh acre land and its estimated value is worth 40 billion to 50 billion rupees, they want to grab land at any cost, this land scam is getting bigger," said Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, during his tour, Kejriwal was arrested by the Gujarat Police, which sparked protests.

According to the Gujarat police, Kejriwal was arrested as he had failed to take prior permission from police, before his rallies and processions in Gujarat.

Following his detention, AAP and BJP members entered into a scuffle on Wednesday.

The trouble began when AAP supporters assembled outside the BJP headquarters in New Delhi to protest against detention of Kejriwal by Gujarat police, while he was on an election campaign.

Soon violent clashes also erupted in Lucknow where several AAP supporters were injured.

However, AAP leader Gopal Rai said that party members were protesting peacefully when BJP workers attacked them.

"See, the police come under the chief minister and it seems either police or some supporter, minister of Modi government or Modi himself was involved, otherwise this step wouldn't have been taken," said Rai in Rajkot city.

Rai also said that AAP will continue unraveling the truth and never take the route of violence.

"The way BJP tried to stop us and people who were protesting peacefully were baton charged, we think that the BJP is feeling threatened due to which they are attacking, no matter how many times we are being attacked, we will never hit back or be violent, but the battle of unraveling the truth will continue," added Rai.
