Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday condemned the treatment meted out to former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav by the city Police saying it is the latter's fundamental right to protest peacefully.

"I strongly condemn the treatment meted out to Yogendraji by Delhi police. They were protesting peacefully. It is their fundamental right," Kejriwal tweeted.

The ex-AAP leader was detained by the Delhi Police during a farmers' protest at Jantar Mantar last night.

Yadav, who was trying to march towards the Prime Minister's official 7 Race Course Road residence, has alleged that he was "brutally assaulted".
