Minister of State for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar on Friday dismissed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's apology for continuing with his speech even after Gajendra Singh had committed suicide, adding that the latter should not make farmers a 'spectacle' for achieving political gains.
"The Delhi Chief Minister's apologies are not enough. A criminal investigation is on and the organizers of the rally must cooperate. The suicide by the farmer could have been averted, but they created such an atmosphere...You cannot make a farmer a spectacle, or a showpiece of your politics," Javadekar told the media.
The Environment Minister also lashed out at the AAP for making statements against Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and demanded an apology.
"Instead of cooperating with the investigation by the Delhi Police, they are levelling charges against the Home Minister. AAP leaders have made irresponsible statements against Rajnath Singh ji, they should
apologise for that as well," he said.
Kejriwal had earlier in the day expressed regret over continuing with his speech after Gajendra had committed suicide.
As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed the farmer, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged. He took the extreme step because he had no means of support his family.
