In the wake of growing concerns around the outbreak of Zika virus, the Kenyan Olympics committee has confirmed that the East African nation could withdraw from the Rio games, which begins on August 5.
Kipchoge Keino, the head of Kenya's Olympics committee, said that they were not going to risk taking Kenyans to Brazil if Zika virus reaches epidemic levels, the Guardian reported.
Kenya is renowned for producing some of the best middle- and long-distance runners in the world and it had reasserted its supremacy on the track by topping the medals table at the World Athletics Championships last year.
Meanwhile, the United States Olympic Committee has also issued warning to its athletes and staff concerned for their health.
