Former South African captain Kepler Wessels is reportedly of the opinion that new coaches should be provided to the team for the shorter format of cricket.

Wessels was reportedly disappointed with the strategies South Africa employed in their ICC World Twenty20 campaign in Bangladesh.

According to Sport24, Wessels said that it was, unfortunately, once again crystal clear that in terms of strategy in the shortest format of the game South Africa are some way behind the leading teams.

Wessels said that the 'brains', which decide on the South Africa's tactics during matches, refuse to accept that impact players, with either ball or bat, have to be put into positions consistently where they can influence the outcome of the match.

Wessels, who is reportedly disappointed with the bowling decisions made by South Africa in the World T20 tournament, said that with the 50-over World Cup exactly a year away, he would suggest that the current coaching staff continues in the Test arena.

However, he added that a new coaching staff specializing in T20 and 50-over cricket takes the team forward in the shorter version of cricket.
