England cricketer Simon Kerrigan has reportedly not been included in his team's 'shadow' performance squad for the winter Ashes tour in Australia following his Test debut during the summer Ashes series.
The left-arm spinner conceded 53 runs in just eight wicket-less overs on his debut during the fifth Test against Australia at The Oval and did not bowl at all in the second innings of a drawn match that saw England to a 3-0 Ashes series win.
According to Sport24, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) performance director David Parsons stated that Kerrigan will continue to work with his county side Lancashire while the rest of the England Performance Programme (EPP) squad will spend two weeks each in Brisbane and Perth starting later this month.
Parsons further said that Kerrigan's career development will be best served by remaining in the UK in the pre-Christmas period, although he added that the bowler will remain a part of EPP and will continue to be considered for selection for the England Lions tour of Sri Lanka in 2014.
