Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Khaleda Zia has reportedly lashed out at the recent connectivity deals signed between New Delhi and Dhaka, saying that allowing heavy vehicles on the country's roads free of cost cannot be friendship.

Zia noted that friendship can only be good when it is founded on equality, where no one has to make any sacrifices or else it becomes akin to 'slaver,' reported The Daily Star.

She also pointed out that vehicles were required to pay toll to go to North Bengal using the Jamuna bridge, but added that some had been allowed to use the highways and the bridges without paying anything.

"We are not barring them from using our roads, but they should pay," Zia said.
