Congress has downplayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government's endeavour to bring back black money stashed in foreign shores and said that the Centre will keep on making new promises, it is to be seen how many do they fulfill.

Former union minister Mallikarjun Kharge said it has been more 100 days and there is no news of the back money coming back.

"They will keep on making such statements. The Congress in its regime when was making such efforts to bring back black money at that time the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) mocked us. 100 days have passed, it's been 26 months, no black money has been brought back nobody in the country has got the 15 Lakh rupees," said Kharge.

"People with black money were given chance earlier also, now Arun Jaitley is gain saying the same thing, this shows that they are not able to repatriate black money. Let's see how successful does the government gets with all these steps. They are making promise after promises, let us see how many they are able to fulfill," he added.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday said the people who have black money need to legitimate it and for that September 30 is the last date.

Addressing the reporters after the meeting with industry associations and discussions over the four-month window of Income Disclosure Scheme (IDS), the minister said, "Any declaration made under this law (Income Declaration Scheme '16) is protected, that info won't be shared with any other authority."

"The compliance window is open for people with undisclosed income to legitimize it by paying 45 percent tax between June one to September 30th," added the minister.
