Expressing his delight over Kiran Bedi joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Union Minister of State for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday said that the former IPS officer would play an important role in government formation in Delhi.
"We are happy that Kiran Bedi has joined BJP, she will campaign for the party during Delhi Assembly elections. She will play an important role in government formation in Delhi," Naqvi told ANI.
"Congress and AAP are making noise because this will further ensure our victory in Delhi," he added.
When asked if Kiran Bedi will be projected as a chief ministerial candidate, Naqvi said that party's current focus is on winning Delhi Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain also welcomed Kiran Bedi's inclusion in the BJP.
"We welcome Kiran Bedi, she has a very good image, people of Delhi like her. Party is very happy with the inclusion of Kiran Bedi," Hussain said.
Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi joined the BJP on Thursday weeks ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls.
