Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju conducted an aerial survey of the flood affected areas in the Upper Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh.

He took stock of the damage by the flash floods and landslides triggered by the heavy rains. The local administration of Dapotiju briefed the minister, army officials and disaster management authorities about the flood situation.

He assured of all possible help to the state to tackle the situation.

"I have seen the level of preparedness in the state level and the response they have taken with their own resources. My job is to supplement whatever help we can from the center. So the state governments are required to prepare reports and everything. My purpose of coming here is to see how the whole arrangement is and to get a view myself as to what is the extent of damage," said Rijiju.

Earlier in August Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had ordered the release of Rs.10 crores to tackle the flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh. He had also sought flood relief assistance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi by writing a letter in which he has informed the latter of the state's flood situation.

In Arunachal Pradesh, incessant rainfall for the past couple of days has triggered landslides and floods in several parts of the state. The state's Lohit District is said to be the worst affected by the floods and landslides. Road communication, water and power supply, standing crops and houses are in a poor state.
