Kishtwar remains under indefinite curfew for second consecutive day(Update:Kishtwar)

Jammu and Kashmir's KIshtwar town continues to be under indefinite curfew for the second cvonsecutive day, following the death of one person and injuries to over 24 others in communal clashes that took place on Friday.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has also transferred the incumbent district magistrate and police chief, media reports said.

On Friday, Kishtwar town located about 220-kilomters from Jammu, witnessed unruly mobs firing at each other with 12 bore guns.

The local administration had to call in the army to stage a flag march and restore order, even as over 80 shops, a petrol pump, an oil tanker, some vehicles of the state police and the fire services department and government properties, were set ion fire by the agitating mobs on Friday.

The state's Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad, Commissioner (Home) Suresh Kumar and Additional DGP (Coordination) P.L. Gupta are camping in Kishtwar to supervise the restoration of law and order.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and some other political parties have announced a shutdown in Jammu Saturday in protest against the clashes of Friday.

Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani has also announced a Valley-wide shutdown in protest against the Kishtwar clashes.

A magisterial probe has been ordered into the clashes. District Commissioner, Jammu, Shant Manu has been asked to submit a report to the state government in three weeks.
