Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday backed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's statement asking those filing public interest litigations (PILs) against developmental projects to declare their source of funding and said it is a fundamental right to know the source of funding.
"Those who file PIL and are promoters of PIL under the name of fundamental rights then their belief is also on transparency. If they believe in transparency then those who are filing PIL should disclose funding source; there is nothing wrong about it. It also becomes a fundamental right to know where the funds are coming from. They should be accepting it," BJP National Secretary Siddharth Nath Singh told ANI.
Singh's reaction comes after Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said all those filing Public Interest Litigations (PILs) against developmental projects should declare their source of funding for the sake of transparency.
Jaitley had also said that the institution had to go through hurdles posed by PIL while setting up Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT).
