At least 553 people have died in a month of fighting in Kobane, a Syrian town under attack by the Islamic State (IS).
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is monitoring the Kobane conflict, said that about 298 IS fighters are among the dead, reported the BBC.
United States has been attacking IS positions in the town to aid Kurdish forces in retaking the lost territories in the town that is located on the Syrian-Turkish border.
If the group captures Kobane, it would gain a complete control over a stretch of more than 100 kilometers between Raqqa, Syria and Turkey.
