After Germany was crowned world champions for the fourth time on Sunday, Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) fans in Kolkata felt that the team deserved to win after their remarkable performance throughout the world cup series.
Sujit Pathak told ANI, "Germany played really well and deserved to win the World Cup. My favourite team was Argentina and I really hoped it to win. But we must appreciate the winning team's effort and good performance."
FIFA fan Rahul said, "They (Germany) proved that they deserve to be the champion. Argentina also played well but this time Messi could not help the team to win. Overall it was a good match."
Student of Bhawanipur Education Society College, Pramod Kedia told ANI, "Miroslav Klose played really well and Thomas Muller took the Golden boot award. I am feeling bad for Messi but at the same time Germany played too well."
Another FIFA follower John George said, "Germany won the because of their tremendous performance during the extra time. The goalkeeper saved many goals and also controlled the game."
Colombia's James Rodriguez was the favourite to win the Golden Ball award, having also won the Golden Boot award for notching up the most goals in the tournament, despite his side being knocked out in the quarter-finals.
His goals helped Colombia progress further than they had before at a World Cup.

Germany's Manuel Neuer, 28, won the Golden Glove awarded to the best goalkeeper at the tournament, while France's 21-year-old midfielder Paul Pogba won the best young player prize.
Germany has won the World Cup four times. Only Brazil (5) has more wins. Germany's total of 18 goals is the most in a World Cup since Brazil scored 18 in 2002.
