Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy wondered recently why those farmers who have been protesting for complete loan waive did not vote for him in the assembly election in May.

"There was a strike yesterday in Koppal district demanding full farm loan waiver. I want to ask those who are observing strike, why didn't you remember Kumaraswamy while voting?" Kumaraswamy said on July 23 while addressing a gathering.

"Had they not cast their vote based on their love for caste (in reference to protests in north Karnataka wherein Lingayats are highly concentrated) and money, they would have had the moral right to question Kumaraswamy," he added.

Further taking a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in north Karnataka, who have been alleging negligence of their region by the JD(S)-Congress coalition government; Kumaraswamy wondered where would they get revenue to complete the Upper Krishna Project (UKP).

While emphasising that they should all work together for the betterment of the state, Kumaraswamy appealed the BJP leaders not incite people on caste or region basis.
