Kurdish forces backed by US-led airstrikes have captured a key military base from Islamic State (IS) militants in northern Syria in the group's self-declared capital of Raqqa.
According to BBC, the Kurdish Popular Protection Units (YPG) was backed by other rebel groups along with US-led airstrikes.
The move by Kurdish forces comes a week after they seized a Syrian border crossing with Turkey from the militants.
Kurdish forces now have complete control of the Liwa (Brigade) 93 base that lies in IS-held territory, said a Kurdish spokesman.
He added that IS militants have been "defeated".
