The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday said that it has taken up the issue of Indians involved in a labour dispute with the concerned Sri Lankan company.
According to MEA official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin, the issue is labour-related and the Indian High Commission in Colombo has already taken up the matter with the company, adding that the matter will soon be resolved.
According to reports, the 77 workers involved in the dispute had earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, seeking their intervention to resolve the matter.
The workers mostly hail from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
