Labour MP Jo Cox killed in Birstall

A lawmaker from the U.K.'s main opposition Labour Party, Jo Cox, on Thursday died after being shot and stabbed multiple times after a constituency meeting in Birstall, West Yorkshire.

According to the police, a 52-year-old man has been arrested by the police in connection with the case.

The police said that Cox, an MP for Batley and Spen, had suffered serious injuries and was later on pronounced dead by a doctor with paramedics at the scene, the Guardian reports.
