Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Lal Krishna Advani, on Tuesday stated that he was confident that BJP and not the ruling Congress will form the next government at the centre.

Addressing a rally in Trivandrum in Kerala, Advani expressed his confidence in his party's win in the general elections.

"Those who have been following the opinion polls these days, they must have noticed how the numbers are growing these days, gradually with every passing day, more and more numbers are attributed to the BJP that they are going to come and today hardly any common man has any doubt as who will be the next government, certainly not UPA," Advani said.

Advani claimed that many people were abandoning other political parties and coming forward to be a part of the BJP.

"All of a sudden people are deserting all other parties and coming to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress people, Leftists, I am not going to name anyone, but it is a flood that is coming this side, a flood,"he said.

The BJP put up a show of unity after months of apparent frost in ties between its prime ministerial candidate, Modi and veteran leader Lal Krishna Advani who filed his nomination papers for the parliamentary polls from Gandhinagar constituency on Saturday and in a rare gesture, praised Narendra Modi.

Advani added that the 2014 general elections will be historic as Kerala will have a representative from BJP for the first time in the lower house of the Parliament.

"The state of the country is such that this time on the 16th of the next month, when the results come out, you will have a lot of surprises all over the country and one great surprise I am sure would be in Kerala also, where for the first time, the BJP is going to get a representative in the Lok Sabha and therefore in the central government," he said.
