The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said that the credibility of documents showing Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasudhara Raje's written support for former IPL chairman Lalit Modi's UK immigration plea is yet to be verified.
"Vasundhara [Raje] ji has never denied her close family relations with Lalit Modi. The validity of those documents which were produced is not yet verified," BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
"As far as Dushyant Singh's case is concerned, all the facts about his company are already in public domain as they find a mention in his IT return and election affidavit," he added.
The case is hogging the headlines in the wake of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj facing criticism for helping Lalit Modi get travel documents from the UK, and saying she had taken a humanitarian view of the case since his wife was suffering from cancer.
She further said that British MP Keith Vaz had spoken to her on the same subject, adding she believes that giving an Indian citizen 'emergency travel documents' cannot spoil relations between India and the UK.
