Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday expressed happiness over defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar's Rajya Sabha election.
"BJP has seen a major defeated in Bihar today and Bihar has given a new direction to the country today," said Yadav.
"RJD was not concerned about the win but its main aim was to defeat the BJP and we succeeded in it," added Yadav.
RJD backed Janata Dal United (JDU) party candidates won during the Rajya Sabha election although Yadav said that he earlier had issues with JDU chief Nitish Kumar because they were responsible for letting BJP make a stronghold in Bihar.
JDU's Gulam Rasool Balyavi and Pawan Verma today won Bihar's Rajya Sabha by-elections.
