Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday claimed that Rashtriya Janata Dal chairperson Lalu Prasad Yadav has committed a 'big mistake' by agreeing to declare Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar as the Janata Parivar's chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
"Lalu Yadav has committed big mistake by agreeing to declare Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate. Lalu will lose the votes of people from Yadav community as they will never accept Nitish Kumar as CM," Manjhi told the media.
On Thursday, Manjhi had stated that his party, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and the BJP will contest the polls together, adding that the main agenda of the alliance will be to thwart Nitish and Lalu's alliance.
The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled to be held later this year.
