Lanka to take part in 12th World Islamic Economic Forum in Jakarta

Sri Lanka has been invited to participate in the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) for the first time which is scheduled to take place from August 2-4 at the Jakarta Convention Centre, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Chairman of World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation, Tuan Musa Hitam extended an invitation to Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe through a courtesy call. Reports Lanka Page.

Sri Lanka has enormous potential in key revenue earning sectors for growth and the WIEF will open many opportunities for the development of the micro and SMEs in Sri Lanka, Hitam said.

Hitam said the WIEF will make an ideal platform for Sri Lankan business and industry representatives to explore areas such as sukuk for infrastructure financing,expansion of the global Halal food industry and the development of the global modest fashion industry amongst others.

The 12th WIEF aims to further explore the crucial role of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in driving economic growth in economies around the world, in line with its theme of 'Decentralising Growth, Empowering Future Business'.
