Legendary comedian Ronnie Corbett passes away at 85

Legendary British comedian Ronnie Corbett has recently passed away. He was 85.

Corbett was best known for starring in the 'Two Ronnies' alongside pal Ronnie Barker, reports the Mirror.

His publicist has confirmed that he passed away in hospital surrounded by his family. The official statement read, "Ronnie Corbett CBE, one of the nation's best-loved entertainers, passed away this morning, surrounded by his loving family. They have asked that their privacy is respected at this very sad time."

As soon as the news came of tributes for the comedian started flooding the social media.

Ricky Gervais led the tributes to the legendary star, posting on Twitter: "RIP the lovely, funny legend Ronnie Corbett. It was an absolute honour & joy to have known him."

Meanwhile Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: "Ronnie Corbett had the rare talent of making all generations laugh. He'll be remembered as one of the all time great comedians."

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: "Ronnie Corbett was a giant of British entertainment who was loved by millions. He will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with his family.
