Australian coach Darren Lehmann has said that the one-off ODI game with Scotland is not simply a selection trial for the upcoming five-match series against England, and that the team was treating their opponents with plenty of respect.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Australia and Scotland meet for the fourth time in ODIs when they clash at Grange Cricket Club in the Scottish capital.

Unsurprisingly, Australia has registered three comfortable wins over the non-Test nation but the Scots have a source of inspiration more than 130-years-old, the report said.

Scotland defeated the touring Australian team in a one-innings match in 1882, three years after the first Scottish Cricket Union was formed, the report added.

Preston Mommsen, captain in place of Kyle Coetzer, said that the team had to believe that they could beat Australia and were certainly prepared to win.

Meanwhile, Lehmann said that the match was a one-day international just like others and Australia had to try and win every game it played.
