Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dilip Pandey on Sunday said that Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung must not try to seize the rights of an elected government and should restrict himself from being used as a political tool.

Pandey was reacting to Jung appointing Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Delhi Chief Secretary.

"The LG must not try to cease rights of an elected government and should restrict himself from being used as political tool. There is no law in the Constitution that says the LG has the power to bypass an elected government and run the Delhi Government on his own terms," Pandey told the media here.

"Nobody is above the Indian Constitution. The Delhi Chief Minister has sought time from the President and he will apprise him of the situation," he added.

The Lieutenant Governor had appointed Gamlin as Delhi's acting Chief Secretary on Friday despite strong opposition from Kejriwal.
