Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Friday referred the matter related to Delhi Waqf Board to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation.

Jung declared the reconstitution of Delhi Waqf Board and appointment of CEO as illegal and void ab initio.

Delhi Waqf Board is superseded under Section 99 of the Act. Till the expiry of its term, the Secretary of Revenue will exercise all powers and duties of the Board.

S.M. Ali, Special Secretary of Delhi Environment and Forest, has been given the additional charge of CEO of Delhi Waqf Board.

The Divisional Commissioner has been asked to constitute a Committee to review the legality and propriety of all decisions and actions taken by the Board after its constitution in March this year and submit a report within a month.
