Michael Douglas has revealed that the role of the late 'Liberace' in the upcoming movie 'Behind the Candelabra' was a beautiful gift because he got it just after his struggle with stage-four throat cancer.
The 'Basic Instinct' star thanked director Steven Soderbergh for giving him a chance to portray the role of the late pianist in the movie, Us magazine reported.
Emotional Douglas expressed his feelings during a press conference at the Palais de Festivals in France on Monday.
Continuing after an emotional pause, the Academy Award winner said that he is eternally grateful to Soderbergh, Matt Damon and producer Jerry Weintraub.
Meanwhile, Soderbergh revealed that he proposed the idea of the role to Douglas on the set of 'Traffic'.
