A lighter vessel carrying around 1500 tonnes of steel coils sank in the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port on Friday.
The vessel-MV Sunderban-1 -- sank somewhere between the Alpha and Bravo anchorages of the outer anchorage around 7.15 a.m. when it was going to Narayanganj from the port, the Daily Star quoted radio control operators at the Chittagong Port, as saying.
The vessel started to it lean to one side after being hit by a huge wave.
All 12 crew members, including its master, jumped into the Bay when the vessel began to sink.
Four swam to a nearby port bound lighter vessel, while the remaining eight took shelter on a mother vessel.
