Special-edition stamps featuring Batman will be released at New York Comic Con in November to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the character.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Susan McGowan, the Postal Service's director of stamp services, said that it is a great place to celebrate "the quintessential American superhero," on a stamp.

McGowan added that the U.S. Postal Service, which is always looking for ideas and subjects that are important to America, thought that this will be thrilling as the character will appear on eight different stamps, depicting the character in four different eras from his original 1939 athletic design through today's shorter-eared, more muscular crime fighter.

The stamps, which will be available from Oct. 9, with a ceremony marking their day of issue taking place at the Javits Center, will be available on sheets of 20, with each stamp worth 49 cents.

DC Entertainment co-publisher Jim Lee said that it is an honor to have the U.S. Postal Service feature the Caped Crusader on this new set of stamps and added that 'Batman' has inspired and influenced fans around the world for generations and will continue to do so for the next 75 years and beyond.
