Liverpool is reportedly setting their sights on Internacional striker Leandro Damiao so as to ensure that they are not left short of attacking options.
According to the Daily Star, the Anfield giants move come as there are still fears that a new bid close to 50 million pounds could see Arsenal sign Luis Suarez, and Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur trying to hijack their move for their top target Willian from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
Although Merseyside boss Brendan Rodgers has large funds available for a big signing before the transfer window closes, the report said that the club is still concerned as they have already missed out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa and believe that the same thing may happen with Brazil's Willian.
However, Liverpool has back-up options available in case such a thing happened, with Brazilian forward Damiao also on that list, adding that as Damiao wants a move to Europe, Rodgers reportedly feels that he has the quality to persuade Damiao to take the Reds' forward line to the next level.
Even though Suarez has apologised to teammates at Liverpool and is back in first team training, the report said that Liverpool feels that he is yet unsettled for which they must help him on the goal front if the side are to push for a top-four place.
